Overview
PM-KISAN is a central-sector income support scheme that transfers ₹6,000 per year directly to the bank accounts of eligible farmer families.
The amount is released in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 every four months, entirely funded by the Government of India.
The scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of farmers for buying seeds, fertilisers and other inputs, reducing their dependence on informal credit.
Eligibility Criteria
- All landholding farmer families with cultivable land in their name are eligible, subject to exclusion criteria.
- The family is defined as husband, wife and minor children.
- Institutional landholders, income-tax payers, serving/retired government employees above a threshold and constitutional post holders are excluded.

Required Documents
How to Apply
- 1Visit the official PM-KISAN portal and open the 'New Farmer Registration' section.
- 2Enter your Aadhaar number, choose Rural or Urban farmer and complete the eligibility check.
- 3Fill in personal, land and bank details and upload the required records.
- 4Alternatively, register at your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or with the village patwari / revenue officer.
- 5Track your application and payment status under the 'Beneficiary Status' tab.
